My brother-in-law works at a very forward thinking advertising firm. As part of working to win a large new account, one of his colleagues is creating a "get to know you" pack for the potential client. It's a profile of a bunch of team members and a little bit about them -- a manual, specific, instance-based facebook.
Because Matt (his name is Matt too) is such a great guy, he sent it around to the family as well. It's been fun getting responses. As of July 2007, here's mine:
1. If you could create a custom bundle of four objects (preferably inanimate) that best define you, what would those items be? Why?
a) My mac -- not for the religion that some people have about them, but rather because i've run all my waking hours off it for the better part of 20 yrs (people, music, work) and it connects me to the network; mac = participating, simply
b) Passport -- the world is the best classroom
c) Board shorts -- life is to be lived with sun, near water, and if you wear too much else you'll be too warm
d) Blackberry -- it too connects me to the network
2. Is there a television show you have to watch every week? One that you consistently watch with others?
If I had a TV, I'd watch the Stewart/Colbert combo.
3. Who is the last person (non-work related) that you called? What was the conversation about?
My wife -- so I could speed my way towards her
4. Is there a personal quest you are on at the moment?
My personal quest is to summon the next batch of courage to get beyond the current comfort zone and make bigger bets in life
